Lara Van den Berge

Lara is an internationally certified CEE (certified equine ergonomist) through Saddlefit4Life, as well as completing her bit fitting training Through Bombers South Africa.

Saddle Fitting

Full Saddle Fitting assessment is done both statically and dynamically. Taking into consideration the not only the length, shape and profile of the horses back but also the rider position in the saddle to achieve the best fit for both horse and rider. Saddles are flocked to fit on site.

Poor saddle fit will result in lameness, muscle atrophy, joint dysfunction and musculoskeletal changes. Resulting in behavioural issues often mistaken for ”bad” behaviour. Such as bucking, rearing, refusal to move forward, nipping and biting when being tacked up.

Jen Broadway

Jen Broadway

Jen Broadway has an international certification in EMFT, Kinesiology Taping and Trigger Point therapy, with further certification in Trauma Fascia Release and Reiki. The learning journey is always on going and she is currently certifying in Equine Cranial Sacral therapy. These modalities allow her to take a holistic approach when treating horses. Analyzing the horse as a whole and putting together short and long term treatment and rehabilitation strategies to bring the horse back into function.

EMFT

Equine Myo-Manipulative Functional Therapy is a bodywork modality, that through a variety of soft tissue massage techniques and manipulation, brings back function to muscle groups that are suffering under load due to strain or spasm.

An EMFT treatment includes a full evaluation of the horse both statically and in motion to identify problem areas, this included physical palpation, of soft tissue as well as joint analysis to determine dysfunction. Based on these findings, the horse will we treated to rectify problem areas, a treatment plan will be advised which could include referrals to other specialists such as Vet, Chiropractor, Bit Fitter, or Saddle Fitter, or suggestions on exercises as part of a rehabilitation program.

Trigger Point Therapy

This modality of bodywork targets “Trigger Points” within the muscle that due to a disruption in the electrical communication in the nervous system causes the muscle to be stuck in a cycle of contraction. By disrupting this message through targeted light pressure work, the muscle is able to release and come back to full function.

Kinesiology Taping

Kinesiology Taping is a complementary therapy, that when used in conjunction with body work holds great benefits in reducing pain, encouraging lymph drainage, reducing inflammation, promoting healing and stabilizing joints.

Due to the unique ways the adhesive is laid down on the tape, it creates a decompression action to the area in which it is applied. Not only mobilizing the facia to create an increase in blood flow to the area but also communication on a neurological and proprioceptive level, highlighting the area of the body the brain needs to pay more attention to to facilitate healing.
